The concept called Autonomous Driving Interior is aimed at Level 4 and Level 5 self-driving cars. At these two levels, the driver will “cede” control to the vehicle in certain cases. Therefore, Hyundai Mobis has introduced a concept model with advanced windshield display technology.
When in autopilot mode, the windshield will “transform” into a large screen for entertainment purposes, including movie screenings. It can also provide users with information about the trip, even turning dark if the passenger needs to take a nap.
Besides head-up display technology, the concept also comes with gesture control technology. Instead of interacting with the touch screen on the infotainment system, customers just need to use gestures to transfer movies or adjust the volume up or down.
Another interesting feature is emotion recognition technology. Hyundai Mobis said: The system uses cameras to monitor the driver’s mood. The vehicle will automatically adjust the environment inside the cabin accordingly.
In addition to Autonomous Driving Interior, Hyundai Mobis plans to “introduce” Light Communication technology, allowing self-driving cars to interact with pedestrians or other vehicles through the vehicle’s light system.
